SmileDesign

We call it SmileDesign for very good reasons. It is a much more involved process than simply "fixing teeth". A person and their smile are not two separate entities. They must blend together to form part of a single visual personality. It is not enough to have a beautiful smile, it must be your beautiful smile.

The process involves evaluating the facial bone structure; the jaw size, structure and shape; the size and shape of the lips as well as the movement and form changes during the action of smiling, talking and other normal mouth movements.

An equally important part of this process is the input from the patient, after all, it is their smile! Until very recently, this was a very difficult, if not impossible part of the process. There were serious problems in trying to communicate exactly how the changes would look and in describing exactly the look which was desired.

Dr. Hill remains on the cutting edge of technology through his use of advanced digital imaging.Through the use of digital cameras and specialized software, he and his patient are able to sit together and see what the results will look like and discuss the exact process which will be needed to achieve their mutual goal. Using a special digital camera, Dr. Hill photographs the teeth and smile and loads the images into a computer. The images are then loaded into the digital imaging program where each tooth can be altered, or the whole smile can be replaced. The gum line can be raised or lowered, teeth can be shortened or enlongated, gaps can be filled. The entire smile can be designed and visualized. This process allows the patient to actually see the results before any work is started and to provide input as to exactly what they want it to look like.
