HOT SPRINGS- Courtney Chivers, Mrs. West Central Arkansas, was chosen on June 7th to represent Arkansas in the next Mrs. America Pageant in, Tucson Arizona, according to Lynn DeJarnette, Arkansas Executive Director. The phases of competition for the 19 contestants were interview, swimsuit, evening gown and on stage question. She won an all expense paid trip to compete in the Mrs. America Pageant on September 2nd, 2008, at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, in addition to an array of prizes. The winner will then go on to compete for the title of Mrs. World. As Mrs. Arkansas America 2008, Courtney will travel the state and promote not only the role of the married women today, but her platform, of “Hear Today Gone Tomorrow”, in addition to making television and radio appearances. Courtney also won the Swimsuit competition. Courtney is 27 years old and she and her husband Clint live in Cabot. Her mother is Paula Richey & her grandparents are Wyeth &the late Pauline Wallis from Conway, & Willis & Glenda Horton from Marshall. She is a Doctor of Audiology. She graduated from Vilonia High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she pursued a degree in Speech Pathology. After finishing her Bachelor of Science degree, was accepted into graduate school through the University of Arkansas of Medical Sciences/ Uof A at Little Rock. While earning her Master’s Degree, did research on a hearing aid programmer that was published by the American Journal of Audiology. She just earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Florida. She is the elect Arkansas Representative for the Audiology Advisory Council through the American Speech Language & Hearing Association for 2009-11, a member of the American Academy of Audiology, Academy of Doctor’s of Audiology, & the AR Speech Language and Hearing Association.
